Cities of The Way: Oporto

Date: 30/11/2019

Oporto, the second most important city of Portugal, can be found in the Portuguese Way. A little bit smaller than Lisbon, but full of charming streets and a nostalgic atmosphere, Oporto is like travelling in time. If you are in a hurry, here is a list with the essentials that you can't miss in your journey through Oporto.

- The Dom Louis Bridge. The main attraction that connects the two cities of Oporto. We recommend to cross it to visit the Jardin Do Morro (Do Morro's Garden) during the day and after the sunset cross the main street to climb Mosteiro da Serra do Pilar, where you can admire the night city landscape.

- Porto Wine. One of the most famous wines of the world is made in the vineyards of Porto (the Douro Valley), so you better don't miss the oportunity of trying it. You can try it on the area Porto de Gaia, crossing the river, the place where it is bottled and distributed.

- Palacio de Cristal / "Glass Palace". Get some rest and chill in the big park Palacio de Cristal, where you can admire the sights of the city from its view point.

- Sao Bento Station. The train station is a monument itself, fulled with the typical decoration made of "azulejos" (ceramic tiles).

- Porto's Ribeira. A walk along the Douro river will lead you to discover one of the oldest districs in Oporto, with its characteristic architecture. You can also rent a tour in a bout to sail on the river and enjoy the viewings from there.
