Emergencies in The Way: What to do

Date: 27/12/2019

From Living The Camino, we offer you a 24/7 hotline with an assistance service. Our professionals are prepared to help you as much as possible with everything they can, so if at any moment in your walk you need to resolve something with us (arranging some transport, discuss about your room, any meal problems...), please, contact us. Every year our team resolve quickly a lot of doubts or problems, and we want to be your support while you are walking.

But what to do in other more complicated issues? 112 is the emergency number in the European Union, they will put you through with the professional you need (police, doctor, firemen...). Remember 122.

But usually, for the usual problems (like small injuries) do not contact 112 as it is purely an emergency number! Instead go to a pharmacy. Spanish pharmacist are highly trained and they can check the problem and give you the proper medicine. If you are not sure where is the closest pharmacy, ask in you hotel/hostel. Sometimes they are also prepared with a first aid kit to take care of those small problems.

And of course, the best way to keep you safe is use common sense. The Way of St. James is a safe experience, but you do not need to put yourself in danger! Take care of yourseld and others.
