The starting point of the French Way is a beautiful town in the Pyrenees, in the French Basque Country.
This well-preserved town, full of energy and natural beauty is located next to the River Nive. The town walls and its Citadell, dated from the 17th century, are some of the main spots of the town, settled on top of the hills and providing astonishing views of the landmark. Inside the walls, you will find the gothic cathedral of Notre Dame du Bout du Pon, the city gate of Porte d'Espagne, and the stone bridge that crosses the Nive River. Once you have visited the main monuments, its time to get into the streets of the town to enjoy their typical cuisine and its chill atmosphere.
Don't forget that if you're visiting Saint Jean Pied De Port on a Monday, you should visit the traditional french market!
